Friendly place but neither room or bathroom very clean. Lock on door broke and got stuck inside the room for an hour. Wasn't repaired before I left. WiFi in the rooms large kitchen.

David, 08-11-2011 - Rating: 40%

good price, good location but dark and gloomy. No. lock on the door, a window that doesn't close (too bad if like me and my friends you go there in autumn, or worse in winter!). The walls and the wooden floor were full of cracks with a lot of dirt behind them. The showers are scary and really don't inspires people to trust them! the beds seemed good and we slept quite well but a friend of mine got fleas bites the next day. the toilets flushed one out of two times. The kitchen is the only bearable room.

If you are looking for a nice place to rest after a long day of visit, don't go there! especially when you hear the manager and other customers yelling at each other in the hall!

The bunk House has unfortunately declined in recent years significantly to performance. It is positive to say that the price 10 € has remained stable and is very cheap for Ireland and in particular Dublin.

But!: the Interior is not maintained, it begins in the kitchen (the oven is broken at least a year, now also the guest refrigerator, dishes and cutlery is no longer available in sufficient quantity and towels to dry off are scantily distributed and are mostly dirty), goes beyond local by Polster in the lounge and ceases when the fallen tiles according to sounding water and sewer pipes and broken taps in the washrooms.

However, they are cleaned daily. The staff is always helpful and friendly. Overall, it can be said that it is suitable for people who want to conveniently stay and not overly interfere with these things. Also it is very close to the O' O'Connell street in the Centre.

The staff were always really friendly and gave us good advice on where to go out and to eat. It's close to many attractions including Temple Bar, shops and Trinity College. The free breakfast is a plus and it was handy having a luggage room and safe for valuables. Over all we had a great time in Dublin and we would highly recommend Ashfield House as a place to stay if you're on a budget.

Laura, 03-01-2012 - Rating: 80%

My stay was extremely disappointing.

First of all, the home was very little cordial and cold enough staff, doing no effort on the language to try to understand.

Then, it was indicated on the site that we could dispose of bathroom towels, which was in fact not the case, since they were reserved for 2 rooms and otherwise paying at a rate of €2.

Finally, bathroom in the room was simply inaccessible: the toilet were out of service, and the water of the shower was frozen.

I would not advise therefore in no case this institution, which, if it was not as well placed, could not afford the proposed prices.

I hope that my experience will be taken into account, at least for toilet towels.

Thank you

Difficult to do better for this located in the centre of Dublin Youth Hostel! It is close to all amenities, and the points of attraction and bars.

A good atmosphere reigns in the hotel, the staff is pleasant, other residents have a good mentality, and the organization is well made.

The premises are clean, and very large! Many entertainment rooms are made available (PC, hammocks, pool, piano, and free Internet in good quality).

Simon, 12-07-2011 - Rating: 70%

Paddy's Palace was a great location for everything we wanted to do. My housemate and I (19 and 20) did all the main tourist sights and went to some local pubs and clubs in the evening, everything was walking distance. Our room was fine. One of the taps didn't run and the sink was leaking so there was a wet patch on the floor in front of it but it didn't bother us too much. We had a mixed dorm but often had the room to ourselves. The breakfast was very basic and we didn't bother after the first day but overall it was clean, the staff were really helpful and friendly and our luggage felt very secure as there were lockers and a luggage room. [Thanks Paddy's =] p.s. the bus that collected us from the airport was quite embarrassing but we loved it

Jean François, 21-08-2011 - Rating: 100%

The room was tidy and the beds were very comfortable. Personal storage lockers were under the beds and the bathroom was a decent size. The bar was reasonably priced for a bar in Dublin and there was a wide variety of alcohol for sale. The WiFi was a bit sluggish and while most of the staff were eager to help there were a few who seemed put out by your pressence. The 'breakfast included' was a bit of a lie. You pay about 2euro50 to get a voucher that says 'one free breakfast' which isn't exactly how they advertised it and the breakfast was quite bare - cereal, yoghurt and coffee. The hostel is located right next to a LUAS (Tram) station and the price for a ticket to the bus station is 1euro50 so the transit links are good. 10 minute walk to temple bar and 10 minute walk to O' O'Connel street. Slightly rough area of Dublin but still nice. Very modern feel.

Overall it was a comfortable stay and I would stay there again.

Welcome of the staff, the benefits are at the height: a very good traditional breakfast in a pleasant room (the same as that of the hotel). The decoration is warm and traps under the beds for storing its affairs are large enough to contain a medium suitcase. The House is sleeping is sufficient (space optimized). The household is done every day, room and bathroom. Advisor, so that the centre city is very close.

There is a receptionnist 24/24, always saying hi, and welcoming you.

Stay on two occasions. 1st House from 4 just down the Hall away from the noise of the street, with wc and shower, super!

return at end of stay, new Chamber 4 corridor to the third, less well PCO workplace (yet at 18 euros instead of 17 for the first), more noisy, just a sink, and the glazing above the door which leaves all night light to pass through the corridor.

Otherwise good home, good atmosphere and services, (except that on 6 computers for internet access 3 fails... non-repaired 10 days after).

Very good situation, all accessible on foot.
