Youth Hostels in Venice
Through the ages Venice has been known by many names; ‘Queen of the Adriatic’, ‘City of Water’, ‘City of Masks’, ‘City of Bridges’, ‘The Floating City’, and ‘City of Canals’. Described as ‘undoubtedly the most beautiful city built by man’ - and that's why today the island city in its entirety is listed as a World Heritage Site, along with its lagoon.
Every year all youth hostels in Venice are flooded by waves of backpackers, city hoppers, art fanatics and food lovers.
During the Middle Ages and Renaissance the Republic of Venice was a major maritime power and a staging area for the Crusades and the Battle of Lepanto, as well as a very important centre of commerce (especially silk, grain, and spice) and art in the 13th century up to the end of the 17th century. This made Venice a wealthy city throughout most of its history. It is also known for its several important artistic movements, especially the during the Renaissance period. Venice has played an important role in the history of symphonic and operatic music, and it is the birthplace of Antonio Vivaldi.
Venice has a Humid subtropical climate, with cool winters and very warm summers. Which makes it very popular with backpackers during spring time and autumn. However, youth hostels often offer special deals during Winter.
There are numerous attractions in Venice such as St Mark's Basilica, the Grand Canal, and the Piazza San Marco all located in the city centre. The Lido di Venezia is also a popular destination, attracting thousands of actors, critics, celebrities, and people in the film industry.
When visiting Venice be aware that there is accommodation and youth hostels available on the city island and on the mainland. Both are connected by public transport.
Venice has a contemporary art scene that lives up to its glorious art history. Besides the world renowned Biennial, Venice offers a fantastic variety of museums, art collections and galleries. Including The Peggy Guggenheim Collection of the 20th-century masters, which is the city's third most visited attraction. Make sure to enquire at your youth hostel about current events and offers.
Next to the arts, food is the Venetian’s forte. Most people agree that some of the city’s best gelato is served in Boutique del Gelato, a tiny outlet on busy salizzada San Lio. Traditional dishes from the Veneto are to be found all over the city – like oca in onto (goose in its own fat) or freshwater lagoon fish done in saor at Antica Adelaide. Or perhaps the best polpette (meatballs) in Venice at Ca d’Oro (Alla Vedova). Ask in your youth hostel for more tips on where to find authentic cuisine.
When backpacking in Venice the best way to enjoy the Grand Canal is on board a vaporetto (a rounded 230-passenger boat). Vaporetto tickets can be purchased at most stops, at tabacchi (tobacconists, identified by a white T on a black or blue background), at Hellovenezia offices (see Tickets & passes) and sometimes in youth hostels. On board you can only buy single tickets.
Venice is served by the Marco Polo International Airport, or Aeroporto di Venezia Marco Polo named in honor of its famous citizen. The airport is on the mainland and was rebuilt away from the coast.
Several bus routes link the mainland with Piazzale Roma via Ponte della Libertà, a road bridge connecting the historical centre of the city of Venice to the mainland.

Jen my jsme si zaplatili 4 lůžkový pokoj, tzn.
A small, quiet establishment in a five hundred year old building, The Ca' Contarini is located in the heart of one of Italy's most beautiful cities.
One of the most beautiful views in Venice! We offer cheap accommodation in the heart of the City center 8 minutes from Rialto Bridge, 14 minutes from San Marco, simple furniture, clean rooms and a nice kitchen. To make a...
We had a horrible stay in this place:
The place is just an appartment in which they rent the rooms. There is no staff there.
We had this problems:
1- Although we confirmed our arrival time by email the days before, when we arrived there was nobody waiting for us, so we had to call to their phone for someone to open for us. And yes, I had to pay the internetional phone call: from an spanish phone (in Italy) to an italian phone.
2- There is no internet or breakfast.
3- The place is quite simple. In the bedroom there were old furniture piled in a corner, with some spiderwebs.
4- The "double" bed are just two single beds side by side, and they separate depending on your position...
5- When we got back at night there was no energy in the house. We had to call again (and pay the call) to get some help. When they arrived they fixed it but the energy went out again. I did what they did to fix it but it didn't work anymore. After that we had to sleep in the dark and we couldn't take a hot shower because the heater worked with electricity. I sent them a text message, an email and left a note but never got any help or apology...
Although is cheap compared to the other hostels in Venice I dont recomend since we paid a lot for just a bed and a roof: no energy, hot water, breakfast or internet...
I DO NOT RECOMEND IT!
Our Hotel offers a pleasant, young and family atmosphere. It is 5 minutes away from S. Lucia Railway Station and it is situated in a wonderful and charming place of Venice: Campo S. Geremia.
The only good think about it was that it is in the center. The rooms were dirty, they don't have lockers, and you don't even get your own key. You have to work it out with your dorm mates who most of the time you don't even know.
This friendly, family-run hotel is ideally located on Campo San Geremia, in the heart of Cannaregio and close to the Jewish Ghetto.
Due to carnival, Venice is pretty much full for places that more people recommended. The room is super small but the location is great. For that price, I will definitely try another place for my next visit.
Location is really good. The staff is great. But there are two boys in my dorm really noisy, come back very early in the morning keeping talking.
The Arches Venice is located in the Cannaregio district - the heart of the city Just a short 10-15 minute walk away from the Santa Lucia train station, Piazzale Roma bus station and close to the Rialto bridge The atmosphere...
Questo è stato il mio secondo soggiorno all'ostello The Arches. .
The Rossi Hotel, at two minutes walking From the Venice train station at Saint Lucia and five From the Piazzale Roma is a good location for Whoever Arrives In This charming city.

Gracias
The hotel is placed inside a completely palace, that maintains the charm and style of Venetian 18th Century. It faces the "Canale di Cannaregio" canal, next to the "Ponte dei Tre Archi" bridge, in the very heart of Venetians' Venice

Charming aristocratic Villa refurbished in 2007, located on beach island of LIDO at 15 minutes by boat from Saint Mark square (boat connection day and night).
Amazing hostel in the heart of Venice, only 150 meters away from the main central Venice railway station (Santa Lucia) and close to the Grand Canal. Rooms are bright and fully equipped with all facilities. Excellent value for money.
