I went in January and I liked! the room was not too dirty... it was my first youth hostel and I was expecting a worse... some coverage was dirty then I do not have them use... Otherwise, the small basement common room is pleasant and well maintained! the home people are nice too! the hotel is a little far however from the centre of amsterdam and the red light district (a good 20 minute walking). But if you like walk, you will love!

Needs more than one key card for the dorms - only one card to the room made it tricky for getting in and out of the room. I can't wouldn't mind paying a deposit for a personal key card

I would advise strongly against this hotel! The receptionist it allowed us to cancel our reservation while we we had to pay 10% of the reservation at the time we we're found a street... and more of its it we are not even repay the sum paid for the reservation.

Hotel very well located, between the Netherlands Stadium (for parking, €6 per day, round-trip offered tram) and the city centre (20 minutes walk, across superb channels, and very pretty places).

This was easily the worst hostel we stayed at on a month long trip, and by far the most expensive. BEds were uncomfortable, wasn't a nice atmosphere, the staff were generally rude and seemed like we were an inconveinence. There was no lock on the toilet door in a 10 bed mixed sex dorm. It wasn't particulary clean either. The only plus point was location. Choose a different hostel. We moved after a night to the Sarphati Hostel, bit of a walk in but miles better.

If I am completely honest, I normally would have probably not bothered with feedback, but after my experience at Travel Hotel, I felt at least obliged to other persons thinking of staying here.

The place is a shambles, dirty, bad smell everywhere, showers/toilets I wouldn't want to be seen dead in and above all - the customer service is a lesson in 'how not to do it'. From the moment we walked in, the utter rudeness and bad attitude of the receptionist nearly drove us out right through where we came in. There are no words to describe the horrendous attitude of this lady whom for no apparent reason, seemed to think we were there to cause trouble.

Yes the place is cheap and close to where we wanted, but if I hadn't paid a deposit, I would have turned my back and slept outside in the street, much better than under the same roof as such a horrible person.

I know people, including myself, only really care about price, but given the condition of the place coupled with the AWFUL attitude of this person, I'd say its pretty clear to steer well clear of this place. Apparently, Travel Hotel is a member of 'WIN hotels', which implies a somewhat prestigious award - highly undeserved I'd say.

The Hostel is very good for the location (just near Leidesplein), however the hostel itself is very poor. We had to pay €50 each per night and really, it is not worth it.

When we arrived there was no toilet paper. The walls and floors were dirty and the water in the shower wouldn't can't flush down (bad luck if you were taking a shower after a dozen of other people).

On top of that, there were mice wondering around the hostel.

However, as I said before the rental is extremely good so if you have to pay half of the price (which can be possible in low season or in weekdays) than it could be a good deal.

Hôtel petit,exigu, mal organisé, avec un seul toilette et douche par étage! L ensemble est quand meme propre et il y a le minimum: juste pour passer la nuit de toute façon.

A noter que nous n avons pas du tout eut la chambre prévu à savoir la chambre privative de 6 lits avec toilette Perso! Nous avons bien eut 6 lits heureusement mais en regardant le plan d évacuation nous nous sommes aperçu que c était la chambre d en face que nous devions avoir: beaucoup plus grande et avec toilette.

Bref, n attendez rien de cet hôtel a part sa fonction primaire: dormir!

Stay 4 nights in the Aivengo youth hostel, we have tested the mixed dormitory as well as non-mixed reserved exclusively to the gente women.

Hostel located very well since it is located in the centre which allows to visit the surroundings areas without too much kilometre (the city centre, the red-light district, Jordan...).

Good home available, friendly and very nice staff.

Mixed dormitory: noisy, allers and regular venus all night, lights on omitted to be extinguished TDP that you sleep, the bathroom (shower + WC tray) very large step and you must pass through the entrance hall to access.

Dormitory reserved for women: better heated, more quiet, little allers and venus in the night except when of new tenants co arrived, bathroom (shower + WC) more spacious and particularly a kitchenette where vs can prepare your meals (but not table or chairs).

If you plan to come to Amsterdam to party the mixed dormitory is recommended, if you are just to visit and in this case you get up and go to bed early, it is better having single rooms (in a hotel for example maiscela assumes that you have the budget for!).

A Board: leave no food in your suitcases (otherwise think well to close them, with a lock, for example) because the mouse rodent and eat all what is within their reach.

Everything was fine, however the floor was still wet when we came. Also it's annoying to leave deposit for everything, even the hair dryer and the keys. Also, it would be nice to have breakfast for the price we paid £ 40 p/night. The location is great and it's nice that the cafe is open till late so you can sit and have joined before going to bed.

Are there especially not going. We had reserved a private room with bathroom and toilet. Upon arrival we have paid and c ' is arriving in the House that we have seen that the toilets were not working. It took fight to retrieve what had been pay but it has still not recovered the deposit paid on the internet at time of reservation, whereas it is absolutely not our fault and we left the hostel because they could not give us another Chamber with the services for which we had paid. This is pure malhonneteté and simple, beware!

Are happy with the Shelter city Hostel: excellent location in a lively neighbourhood but the street is quiet. Sympathetic home, dormitory and shower clean and in working condition. We thank the hostel we have been able to leave our luggage in a closed room only-flat: we were 12 then we had a cost of €5 per person: not justified and non-written... to the limit of the "racket".

To be centric, this hotel is centric but the tourist centre (in the middle of the red light district and the coffee shops) and not where are local. On the other hand very very noisy and dormitories are very simple, a bit congested and without any decoration. It is better to take a room in 2-4 people!

Excellent hostel. Very cool decor and great staff. Breakfast wasn't bad either. Really the only complaint I have is the fact that they have no kitchen faciility or even a microwave for people like me who enjoy cooking their own purchased food once in a while while they are out and about exploring other countries. Will definately go again, but bring extra $$ for eating out.
