About Hostel 639
Welcome to the Hostel 639 experience!
We are the number one budget accommodation in London, located near Portobello Market and the famous summer street carnival from Motting Hill.
Our prices start from £9 a night, and we have discounted weekly and monthly rates available.
Being cheap doesn't mean that you will be sharing with 10 or 15 people: our dormitories only have 6 or 8 people in the room.
Our prices include linen rental and continental breakfast. Each room is equipped with its own shower and sink. Each floor has its own toilets and communal kitchens.
We also have a games room with pool tables and arcade machines. The bar can be a place to have a quiet drink or to party to the tunes of our resident DJ's.
Parties and karaoke are organized for our guests every Thursday.
If you are looking for a relaxed atmosphere, our coffee shop has SKY TV, Internet and a phone room.
We have our own restaurant, which serves good and affordable meals, open for lunch and dinner.
We also provide a free shuttle bus from Victoria Coach Station Arrivals.

You will find below the directions to get to Hostel 639:
From Victoria:
- By free shuttle bus (Monday to Saturday; 9h am to 6.h pm, subject to availability).
- By tube (underground): take the Victoria line up to
Oxford Circus, then take the Bakerloo line to Kensal
Green (trains going to Harrow and Wealdstone). We are
in front of the underground station.
- By bus: take bus number 52 from Victoria, and
hop-off at Harrow Road bus stop. Then go back on your steps on Kilburn Lane towards Harrow Road (10 meters), and turn right at the traffic lights. Walk about 300 meters from the junction. We are located on the left side (no 639 Harrow Road).

En revanche, matelas "morts", à jeter (les ressorts vous remontent le long des côtes!!) et pas d'eau chaude le matin pour la douche, à 8h00!!
C'est deux derniers points nous empêchent de recommander cette auberge à des amis..

With all the negative comments, I was frightened.
However, there is a relationship between the quality and price more, it's a youth hostel not hotel if you want a hotel pass your turn.
Personally, I have not lived my stay in this hostel because it was in Group 8 so we had a room for us. Therefore no problem of cohabitation or security (Council go y grouped).
The noise level was the 2nd so we were not hampered by music at night.
Le petit déjeuné is minimal but sufficient.
more - prices - shower in the room - proximity to Metro less - women toilet bites in our passage to the final for my part it is neither good nor bad just what it takes.

Not make especially not the mistake to go. This place is more asylum night than the hostel. Old mattresses to saggy Springs covered with stained tissue. no drinking water on tap, any small kitchens on the floors without any equipment, the carpet pulled in the corridors...If you do not want stopping your stay find another address.

The hotel is well located (close to the Metro), the rates are correct and the staff is very friendly. We were three and we all love well this stay.

We were a couple + children of 5 years for the period between between Christmas and new year 2011.
Very good home in French and English.
Cash payment: no possibility of electronic payment (VISA or MAESTRO) included in the price: linen, breakfast (not varied but unlimited), common kitchen (no crockery, nor kitchen equipment) in the price: essuie-bathroom hygiene: perfect for a room with 4 beds (private without shower hose shower!), random in the common (bleach cleaning - yuck!)
We go there without any problem.

Beds were dirty, loud music until early hours of the morning on a week night, receptionist barely spoke english and each hallway/room had a different and terrible smell. Showers were in corner of room, we were unable to use as fellow room occupants were unhappy at being disturbed. The toilets had a cleaning roster on the wall which had not been completed in 6 months.

Frankly not welcoming hostel, rooms and bathrooms sales, suspicious persons in the rooms, no security. For the price paid, is of course not a hotel quality but it does not even deserve the title of youth hostel. Deplorable and not recommended

positive points 1 - not too expensive to London hotel 2 - well situated: Metro + bus nearby 3 - staff very friendly, welcoming and reactive negative points 1 - bedding to change fully 2-very noisy, not in the hostel, but outside. step of double-glass 3 - kitchen: non-existent equipment and non-functional devices; too small to eat

Rooms were not very bad, nor was the common area. Biggest complaint is the kitchen, shortage of utensils, pots, flat to rent and the fact that both stoves were broken. Seems like this was once an amazing hostel, purpose if the owners do not consider updating everything soon it is going to fall too far down to be improved and continues to get crappy ratings. REally listed to the ratings, this place is rated low for a reason. If you can find a better rated hostel foe the same price take it! However if it is all that is left for a place to sleep for cheap it will definitely do. :)

La zona está bien, tiene buena combinación de autobuses y está en la última parada de la zona 2 de metro, justo al lado de la estación. Las habitaciones están limpias, aunque son muy pequeñas. Dispone de lavabo y ducha en la propia habitación.
El personal es muy agradable y el albergue cuenta con billar, futbolín, cafetería y lugar de reunion. Es ideal para venir con un grupo de amigos. También tiene cocina en varios pisos.
La única pega los baños: están viejos y desaseados, no tiene duchas fuera de la habitación y están obsoletos.
Por ese precio, no se puede pedir mucho más, así que lo recomiendo. Yo seguro que volveré :)

Une horreur, nous devions y passer 3 nuits et nous n'avons pas pu y rester tellement c'était sale. Les gens vivent carrément dedans dans une hygiène déplorable.
Pour moi ce n'est pas une auberge, c'est un repère de SDF et de squatters.
Les photos ne sont pas réelles, n'y allez surtout pas.

les chambres sont assez petites et pas très pratique avec la douche mais c'est convenable
il y a une bonne ambiance dans l'auberge, c'est convivial et les employés sont sympas !!!

Pas cher et on a pu réserver un jour avant de partir. Par contre les toilettes étaient franchement pas propre et c'est vrai qu'une mini cabine de douche sans espace pour pouvoir s'habiller et poser ses fringues dedans quand on est dans un dortoir mixte c'est pas très cool. Mais bon ça reste une bonne solution de dernier moment pas trop loin du centre et pas chère ... ah oui et dernier détail il n'y avait que des français dans l'auberge

Not at all a clean and friendly hotel. Staff hardly knew a word of English and did not even know how to help me with tourist directions.
Hostel toilets look like they come out of a ghetto. Dorms are relatively ok except for the random dysfunctional shower at the corner of the room.
Furthermore, the hostel gave out a bad vibe concerning customers. Customers looked threatening at some points or just not at all friendly. There was even a night where one was drunk right outside the hostel entrance, screaming at supposedly his girlfriend, and provoking violence. An all time low for the hostel's image in my opinion.
Highly doubt I can recommend this hostel guys. Only recommended for those who will hardly be staying in much and those who can stand tough environments.

Check-in took forever because the lady at the reception seemed to be serving about five people at once, people kept jumping the queue, and she was organising what take-out she was going to have with the other staff. The place in general wasn't dirty but it wasn't particularly clean. The toilets on my floor were pretty disgusting as they didn't flush properly and there was no soap. The rooms didn't have too many beds in them and there was a sink and shower in the room which was good. Windows had to be kept open to keep the room cool and so traffic noise was an issue in the morning, so ear plugs would be a good idea. The lounge was fairly spacious, but the free breakfast was just toast and fruit juice. I stayed three nights, and by the third night I had started coughing and over a week later I still have a cough ...

Tres bon accueil d'un staff francais, mais c'est là que s’arrêtent les points positifs...
- lits qui grincent, matelas aux ressorts perceptibles, trous dans les draps, pas de casiers dans la chambre;
- tres bruyant : proximité d'une route hyper-frequentée, vitre non double vitrées;
-4wc pour tout un étage, 1 douche dans la chambre (pratique dans une chambre mixte);
- dans ma chambre des personnes peu-fréquentables : 1personne m'a réveillé alors qu'elle essayait de voler mon porte-feuille, on a retrouvé une bouteille de vin vide dans le lit d'une autre tandis qu'on croirait qu'une autre encore habitait dans la chambre (monopole de tous les rangements...);
absolument pas recommandable.

Indeed it is cheap, so don't be surprised by the cheap services it offers! I was nonetheless kinda chocked by the toilets and the staff who seemed to be more concerned with their personnal life than their job and so they weren't really nice and welcoming... But it is really well located though...

Super week end meme si on est resté qu'une nuit une bonne acceuil et on est tombé sur des français donc plus facile pour nous de communiqué! Assez bonne ambiance petit déjeuné sympa! Chambre tres propre drat changé douche lavé et toilette propre! Si on devais retourner a londres je pense que se serai la bas qu'on iras!!!

The worst hotel of all my life!!
Many odd people and the bedroom is dirty! There are no steps in the beds...

Some people may say it is a dirty hostel, however it is as clean as one can expect when paying so little compared to a real london Hotel. Really, for someone who wants to have a bed to sleep while spending the day outside, it is perfect, if you are ok with allowing a little less comfort than at your home.
I would however recommand to book a small dormitory (4 people) if you are staying more than two days, that can be annoying to live with too much people for too long.
The breakfast is really ok, it is easy and fast, you don't have to wash your stuff yourself as it is required in other hostels.
If you are french, don't be surprised of the several french staff members if you thought you'd be cut from the french language. Anyway, anywhere you'll go there'll always be many french tourists, so you'll never feel really cut off.
The hostel may be far from central London, it is however well located to get where you want in London. It's just in front of the tube station, and the bus 18 will bring you north of central London where you can catch another bus to get where you want.

I think this hostel should be closed. There were bedbugs, holes in the walls, very dirty showers. NOT GOOD!!!!!!!!
